My Beauty Routine

I love getting ready. Whether it be for work, for a day at home or for a evening out. I don't ever set foot out of the house without my face on but I certainly admire those who can and do. I enjoy the whole getting ready process. I love taking care of my appearance and will do a separate post on my 'go to' products at some point but for now here is my beauty routine for an everyday look. (All products listed below can be found at Boots and Superdrug unless stated otherwise)

My Base

The most important step in my routine is perfecting my base. I have quite shiny skin and so prefer to turn that into a peachy glow instead of what might look oily. I start by moisturising my whole face with 'All Bright Radiance Balm' by Botanics which does what it says on the bottle and makes my face glow. I then apply Pixi liquid foundation which can be bought online at Pixi Beauty with a angled makeup sponge. I unfortunately suffer from acne and although it is a lot better than it was I rarely go a period of time without having at least one blemish on my skin. I have tried many concealers in my time and have found some either cake onto my face and in turn make any blemishes stand out or others just don't match my skin tone. Bourjois 'Blur The Lines' concealer is ideal in texture and in shade. I but this on my blemishes and areas where my skin is a slightly different shade, such as, under my eyes to get rid of dark circles and above my lips. I don't use a brush with my concealer but rather my middle finger and then I simply pat it into my skin until it blends in. I then use a powder puff to apply my healthy balance pressed powder onto my skin. I tend to gravitate towards lighter shades to avoid looking orange and then I use Bourjois bronzer to add warmth and depth to my cheeks and my nose and forehead.

My Brows

I have the beginnings of HD brows and go to The Colour and Therapy Lounge in Blackburn to have them tinted, waxed and shaped. Unfortunately when I was growing up I had really thick brows but it was the fashion to have thin brows so I plucked them a little too much as a teenager. I then got left with skinny little brows that never grew back. Having them tinted and sorted at the salon has changed them dramatically. They are now starting to grow back and in a good shape too but until they are completely filled in I have a little help from Freedom Brow Pomade. First I brush my eyebrows upwards and then I use an angled brush which is quite small to brush the pomade in the areas where just tiny hairs grow to create a fuller brow. I finish them by giving them a final brush and then applying just a small amount of face powder over the top to avoid making them look too dark and unnatural.

My Eyes

I love all manner of shimmering eye shadows and the Bourjois 'Palette Les Nudes' is by far the best selection of eye shadows I have bought to date. I wish I could buy the colours separately because the gold shade (5th one along from the left) is almost gone. It gives my lids an amber shimmer and it is truly lovely. When I am not using everything Bourjois I also use Mii Twinkle eye shadow which is a bit more expensive but is saved for special occasions and is my 'go to' shade. I then do a cat eye eyeliner flick on both eyes and use the Bourjois 'Push up' Glamour mascara on both my top and bottom sets of lashes.

My Lips

I am a huge fan of lipstick. I will wear pretty much any colour aside from too light or too dark. The best lipstick I have ever bought is my Pirate shade of red Chanel which I bought while in Paris. It had to be done! I love wearing red for the added confidence it gives me and it works well with neutral eyes for an everyday vintage look. I also love coal an then darker shades of pink by Bourjois especially the Rouge edition Velvet range and the 12 hour range (as shown in the pictures above). I will rarely be seen without my lippy!

Finishing Touches

To finish off my everyday look I opt for Bourjois' Rose Blusher on the apples of my cheeks and then I use the amber eye shadow mentioned previously down the centre of my nose, just under my eyebrows, the dip in the middle of my lips and then a small dab on my chin to add a peachy glow to my face.
