Purpose

In my life at the moment there are different areas which bring me happiness, confidence and a purpose. They seem to fill each day and so I thought I would write about them individually.

1. Slimming World

I have been doing Slimming World now since December 2017 and have lost 2 stone 5lbs in total. I am not going to lie and say that it has been plain sailing and that it has been a smooth journey with a loss every week. There have been plenty of disappointing weekly results were I have tried really hard and gained or maintained on the scales or when I haven't tried and I have gained. I think what has made my journey a success is that I haven't let the less than desirable weekly results be the end of my journey. I have persevered and carried on and it is certainly paying off. I feel more complete as a person, I am falling in love with my body again and not chastising it with negative comments each morning in the mirror and I am learning to cook more wholesome meals from scratch. I have also met new people by attending weekly meetings, learnt about their own individual journeys and swapped recipe ideas and Slimming World tips. The past 3 months have been tricky and very slow going with a mixture of gains and maintains. We get a certificate every time we loose half a stone and I seem to have been on an uphill struggle to my 2 and a half stone award for a long time. However, this week something seems to have clicked! I am using the Slimming World app, I am recording everything I eat and drink, I am keeping withing my daily syns and I am trying hard wherever possible to fit fruit and veg, water and exercise into my day. I am really gunning for my next award and really feel that I will be able to reach an overall loss of 4 stone by Christmas. I have plenty of events coming up that I want to look good for, the most important one being our wedding in May 2020!

2. Wedding

Aah yes, the wedding. It is a good job I am qualified in Business and Administration because I tell you, planning a wedding is no easy feat! I have a planner and I also have a colour coded file...with tabs, TABS! 'Wedmin' seems to be filling a good section of my weeks as I aim to book and put our deposit down on at least one thing a month. so far we have booked the Church, the Church Hall for our Reception, our transport, our pop up bar and our photographer. WE have recently met with a catering company to discuss our options and are waiting to receive a quote. We still have to look at a band/DJ, table and chair hire, flowers, dresses, suits, Invitations, Save the Dates, Honeymoon, Decorations, Rings and the Order of Service! Plenty to be getting on with then!!! I must admit I do enjoy it but there is an awful lot of prep involved for something that lasts just one day!!!

3. Education

The newest element to areas that have filled my life lately is my education. I currently work as a school secretary and my highest qualification is my Advanced Level 3 NVQ in Business and Administration. I floated the idea around of entering back into education and looking at doing a degree in this field recently but it would have to be part time to allow me to work. I am thinking of the open university which would enable me to study at home with my laptop as opposed to attending lectures and going to a physical university but I am not sure. I have requested prospectuses for Open University and UCLAN to have a read up on what courses they provide. I just feel that I haven't yet reached my full potential and I do love to learn and to push myself. Who knows it may open up a whole field of further career options that I never even considered.
